A system of keeping track of the order in which information or products need to be processed. The goal of FIFO is to prevent earlier orders from being delayed unfairly in favor of newer orders or to ensure that stored parts do not become outdated or obsolete.
FIFO Lanes are often used to ensure the order of use, simply by being stocked from one side with items being withdrawn from the other. Between operations, FIFO lanes can act as a supermarket.
