The perpetual duration of an effective Lean program.
Lean is often described as a journey because it has no finish line; improvements can be made without end. Toyota, which has been doing Lean for over 50 years, still looks for ways to save single steps or a few seconds from its processes, recognizing that they accumulate. Perhaps more importantly, Toyota also recognizes that to do otherwise would poison and end a culture of searching for improvement with the active participation of all employees.
