Guitar Overproduction

Fender may make some wonderful guitars, but imagine the amount of cash they have tied up in the inventory you see in this video. The multi-spindle machines were probably bought to cut the components faster without recognizing that they may only be building up inventory faster with them (and thus tying up more cash). Recognizing from Little's Law that (at a constant rate of production) lead time is proportional to the amount of inventory, it would be expected that Fender has long lead times for specially ordered guitars.
